Shown at the launch site is the sole mode of travel within the Everglades and access to the crash site. Complements to Cooper Town AirBoats who donated the transportation to assist with this aviation archaeological project and survey of a historical crash site
Until such time that this piece of wreckage is properly recovered from the site and taken back to the 94th ACG technical work scope located at Opa Locka Airport for identification it appears that this piece may be the inner side of a wing fuel tank as evident of the sealant displayed
Shown in close detail one could clearly see that despite over 37 years of being out within the Everglades, this piece of wreckage off aircraft N310EA shows very little sign of visual corrosion and upon further inspection the gray color sealant seen still had some gummy / rubbery feel to it
Al Naranjo closely inspects the first large part of wreckage located from the Lockheed L-1011, tail number N310EA which was located at the former, 37 year old crash site, located about 10 miles into the Everglades off tamiami trails and slightly south of Krome avenue
Miami, Florida 12th September 2009: Aside of the the multiple, diverse and global service retainers in which the 94th AeroClaims-Aviation Consultant Group (94th ACG) engages and services concerning local, private, State and Governmental clients, the group donates a large amount of their professional time and talent toward benevolent and community orientated project, such as assisting the Eastern Airlines Flight 401 Tribute Group. The 94th ACG is a strong supporter and corporate sponsor of the Eastern Airlines Flight 401 Tribute Group which consist of various survivors who are raising awareness toward the 1972 crash in which despite the large lost of lives, the crash has contributed a great deal toward the industry in which all of us as the flying public have benefit from.
Items such as the industry establishment of Crew Resource Management (CRM), flashlight for flight attendants, Ground Prox Warning System (GPWS) and the requirement of Air Traffic Approach Controller to report altitude to the crews all stemed from the crash of Flight 401.
The 94th ACG along with the assistance of the Air Boat Association of Florida (AAOF) and Cooper Town led a survey group which included surviving cabin-crew and passengers to the crash site so as to survey the area, record and identify the wreckage, which despite the passing of over 37 years, they still rest in the same spot in which they ended up in. The 94th ACG is assisting the Eastern Airlines Flight 401 Tribute to establish a historical / aviation tour for the benefit of the organization.
